Veteran Australia leg-spinner Adam Zampa violated the ICC code of conduct during the first ODI of the three-match series against South Africa. The International Cricket Council reprimanded Zampa, who was found guilty of violation of level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct before the second ODI match.
South Africa defeated Australia by 98 runs at the inaugural ODI in Cairns by 98 runs, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Aiden Markram made a solid start with the bat, while Keshav Maharaj destroyed the Australian lineup with spin bowling. However, Adam Zampa fought to influence with his bowling.
Adam Zampa reprimanded for ICC Code of Conduct
During the 37th over of South Africa’s innings in the first ODI, Adam Zampa was heard using an inappropriate language and his bowling after a missfield, using unfair language, which was captured by stump microphones and broadcasting.

Zampa achieved a demerit point for violation of the ICC Code of Conduct. In particular, this was his first crime within a 24 -month period.
“Australia leg-spinner Adam Zampa has been reprimanded after being found guilty of violating Article 2.3 of the ICC Code of Conduct for players and players support workers, which is related to the use of a audible obscenity during an international match,” read the statement.
Adam Zampa accepts approval, no official hearing is required
On-field umpires Chris Gaffaini and Sam Nogazsky, third umpire Richard Illingworth, and fourth umpire Donovan Koch made allegations against Zampa, who accepted their crime and accepted the approval proposed by Andy Picroft of the match referee.
Level 1 violations fined with an official reprimand to a fine of up to 50% of the player’s match fee, along with one or two demerit points.
A total of four or more demerit points are converted into suspension points within 24 months, which can lead to a ban from matches. Two suspension points are equal to the ban from one test or two Odis/T20I. Before being removed, there are demerit marks on a player’s record for 24 months.

South Africa scored a total of 298 runs, in which Eden Markram scored 82 runs in 81 balls. Adam Zampa took a wicket for 58 runs in his 10 overs. Travis Head was the only Australian bowler to take four wickets for 57 runs, making an impact.
In the second innings, Keshav Maharaj exploited the position of the pitch claiming a five -wicket race. Nandre Burger and Lungi Cash contributed two wickets to each. Skipper Mitchell Marsh topped 96 balls with 88 runs for Australia.
Australia was excluded for 198, leading to 98 runs to South Africa. The victory marked a strong beginning for protigns in the ODI series after losing the T20I series 2–1. Maharaj was named Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance.
