Team India opener Abhishek Sharma recently opened the lively atmosphere in the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) dressing room during the Indian Premier League (IPL). Sharma said that captain Pat Cummins and SRH management encourage players to express themselves on the field independently.
Sunrisers Hyderabad has become synonymous with fearless cricket in the IPL. In recent years, the team has created a reputation for an aggressive style that harasses opponents. Opening batsmen Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head set a tone for this attacker, served as the team’s first line crime.

In a recent interview at breakfast with the Champions, Abhishek said that head coach Daniel Vettori asked the players if he had any concern about facing specific bowlers, while Pat Cummins encourages each batsman to decide how they want to attack, give them complete freedom.
Describing Pat Cummins, Abhishek said, “In this team, even if we are 50/6, the next batsman should come out.

Abhishek also said that Pat Cummins provides clear guidance for bowlers. Sharma said that the bowlers were given a simple task of ensuring lesser runs compared to their team.
Cummins tells his bowlers, “The batsmen will do their job. If they score 250 runs, we have to ensure that we limit the opposition to 249. As long as we win, I am good.”
Since Pat Cummins took over as captain, Sunrisers Hyderabad has adopted a fearless and aggressive approach, in which Abhishek and Travis Head have set a tone from the beginning.
SRH set a record for the total team in IPL history, scoring 287/3 in 20 overs against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2024 season. In particular, the Orange Army has also received four yoga of the highest team in IPL history.
Abhishek Sharma’s IPL record
Abhishek Sharma started his IPL journey with Delhi Capital in 2018, but there were limited opportunities in only three matches in that season. He moved to Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2019, which opened new opportunities.
The left -handed batsman played just 19 matches in his first three years in the franchise. However, he scored 426 runs in 14 matches during the 2022 season.
Overall, he has played 77 IPL matches, which includes 27.10 runs at an average of 1816 and an impressive strike rate of 163.01, including nine half -centuries and a century.
In the 2025 season, Southpo broke its first IPL century. Chasing a large scale of 246, Abhishek scored 141 runs in just 55 delivery, including 14 fours and 10 sixes. SRH won in just 18.3 overs during the run chase.
