India’s national cricket team’s explosive opening batsman Abhishek Sharma has been quite lucky in the fifth and final T20 match of the ongoing series against the Australia national cricket team.

Abhishek Sharma got a lease of life early in the innings as all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and fast bowler Ben Dwarshuis dropped routine catches at the Brisbane Cricket Ground, Woolloongabba, Brisbane on Saturday, November 8.

In the opening match of the T20I series, Abhishek scored 19 before scoring an extraordinary 68 in the second match at the MCG. He looked good in the third and fourth matches and registered scores of 25 and 28 runs.

He looked set to fall on his first single-digit score in the series against the Australians, but was prevented from doing so due to fielding errors by the opposition players.

First of all, Glenn Maxwell dropped the catch of Abhishek Sharma on the fifth ball of the first over. Ben Dwarshuis bowled a full-length delivery around the off-stump to Abhishek, who was looking to ground it for a six.

However, he was unable to make good connection with the ball and missed the ball straight away. Glenn Maxwell came down to the ball and it was an easy chance, but he missed it and gave life to the Indian opener.

Then on the third ball of the fourth over, Ben Dwarshuis dropped the catch of Abhishek. Nathan Ellis, who had Abhishek’s number, once again managed to trap him.

Abhishek got a thick top-edge on a ball from Nathan Ellis and Dwarshuis comfortably got under the ball, but dropped the catch in a strange way.

At the time of writing, the explosive opener was unbeaten on 23 off 13 balls with the help of a four and a six as the match was halted due to inclement weather and rain in the city.

Batsmen have to dedicate themselves before leaving after bowling – Parthiv Patel

Speaking before the start of the game, former India cricketer Parthiv Patel provided the pitch report and said:

“We are at the Gabba, Brisbane, for the fifth and final T20 match. There are some cracks in the middle. It is tough. The new ball fast bowlers will get some help. Coverage of the grass as well. The ball will come on the bat well. The batsmen have to commit themselves before bowling. Overall, a good surface to bat on.”
