Vaibhav Suryavanshi stirs debate on AI bat after explosive form in IPL 2026
Recently, Pakistan cricket expert Nauman Niaz had light-heartedly commented that his bat might have an AI chip that helps him hit such long sixes.
Later, presenter Jatin Sapru raised the same topic while speaking with former Indian cricketers Aakash Chopra and Mohammad Kaif on Star Sports.

Aakash Chopra compares Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s rise to “AI-powered genius”
Aakash Chopra jokingly said that no one knows how far Artificial Intelligence can go in the future and similarly no one knows how big Vaibhav can become in cricket. He also compared the early stages of this young player with the great batsman Sachin Tendulkar, who surprised the cricket world at a young age.
“If you can ask such a question (on AI chips), the answer is yes. The thing about AI is that we don’t know where it can go. We think there is a limit, but after five years, we realize it has gone even further,” Aakash Chopra said on the show ‘Out or Not Out’.
“Vaibhav Suryavanshi is that AI model. We have also seen Sachin Tendulkar play at the age of 15, and we know how far he went. But the way this kid has started, I don’t really know how far he can go. That’s why I call him AI.”
Mohammad Kaif shuts down AI bat theory about Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Mohammad Kaif gave full credit for this to Vaibhav’s talent and hard work. Kaif clarified that no technique can help a batsman score runs unless the player has real skill. He praised the youngster for working on his game since childhood and said that people should appreciate his batting instead of making unnecessary theories.
Kaif said during the same discussion, “What benefit does it give to the bat? Suppose it has an AI chip – still, can anyone guarantee a century? If they can do that, I will leave commentary. Make the bat wider, make it longer, do whatever you want, but even if someone bats so well, you have to respect the skill.”
“The bat has no role here. It’s all about the skill set. He has been batting since the age of seven and has worked hard to improve his skills. I join hands. Please give credit to the boy. He is playing brilliantly and dominating the attack.”
