In a sudden development, some Sri Lankan players have returned to Sri Lanka in the middle of IPL 2026. Last night, the Lankan players involved in Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (MI vs SRH) at the Wankhede Stadium returned to their country.

Why did SRH’s Sri Lankan players return home in the middle of IPL 2026?

Danuska Aravinda, a Sri Lankan journalist has brought this incident to light through some X posts. Aravinda claims that the three Sri Lankan players representing Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Dilshan Madushanka, Ishan Malinga and Kamindu Mendis, have returned only to complete their biometrics as part of the visa process required for the upcoming tour of the West Indies.

“Sri Lankan cricketers Dilshan Madushanka, Ishan Malinga and Kamindu Mendis, who are representing SRH in the IPL, arrived in Sri Lanka this morning,” Aravinda said.

“They have returned to complete their biometrics as part of the visa process required for the upcoming tour of the West Indies. All three players are scheduled to depart for India tomorrow to participate in the remaining IPL matches,” he said.
