South Africa captain Temba Bavuma was asked about his team’s plans for the ODIs as India will be playing with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. He acknowledges the change in energy dynamics in the form of two living legends in the Indian batting order.
There is a lot of talk about India being the team that lost the Test series, but the Proteas team will actually be full of confidence after their elimination. Temba Bavuma extended his winning record in Test cricket as he won 11 out of 12 matches.
Temba Bavuma believes Ro-KO’s arrival will bring a different energy to the Indian camp
South African captain Temba Bavuma said it would be exciting to see the two Indian stars back in the Indian lineup, as both the legends would bring a different kind of energy on the field.
“I think it’s exciting, right? It’s exciting for the locals, two living legends coming back and playing on Indian soil for a while,” said South African captain Temba Bavuma, as everyone’s attention will be on them.
“It’s exciting for us to be a part of a different type of energy when those two big guys are around. So it’s something we’ll look forward to,” Bavuma said in a video posted by Star Sports on his Instagram account on Saturday.
“From a captaincy point of view, I don’t think there will really be much change for my team,” Temba said on the Proteas’ strategies against the Giants.
Temba Bavuma does not have such a promising record in the longer format of white-ball cricket as he was questioned about special strategies for the legendary batting pair.
Asked about South Africa’s plans to get the better of the experienced batting pair, Bavuma said, “I think like any other players, we will build our preparation around them, we will come up with whatever strategies they come up with. But we know the energy is going to be a little bit different, but that’s exciting.”
He said, “From a captaincy point of view, I don’t think there will really be much change for my team. I think you obviously want to lead with the bat, and then you want to lead people strategically on the field. So, nothing really, I don’t think there will be much change really.”
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will play under the captaincy of KL Rahul for the first time.
Shubman Gill was made the captain of the Indian team in place of captain Rohit Sharma, who won the ICC title twice. However, due to injury he has been ruled out of the series against South Africa.
For this series, KL Rahul has been made the new captain of the team in place of Gill and both the legends will play under his leadership for the first time. KL Rahul has once played under the captaincy of both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
