Brian Bennett, coming into the chase, gave Chevron a flying start as they were scoring runs at almost the required run rate. However, debutant Yash Thakur took the first wicket as Bennett, who looked dangerous, was out on 32 off 19 balls.

“It was a comprehensive win” – Shreyas Iyer happy after team’s win

Shreyas Iyer looked very excited after the win because it was his first series win after becoming the captain. He praised Ishan Kishan and Tilak Verma for their excellent innings in the match and also talked about the fearless attitude of the team and he liked the attitude of the team.

After the first series win, Iyer said, “I feel very happy, especially the way we won today. It was a comprehensive win and there was a great contribution from each player.” [On what stood out most in the performance] Starting with the batting, I think the way Ishan and Tilak played was excellent. Some of the shots he played were raknaka (beautiful), and they were really pleasing to the eyes.”

“Initially, I thought anything between 180 and 200 would be a par score, but we got to 220, which was the icing on the cake. So, yes, both of them made fantastic contributions. Then, with the ball, as always, the bowlers came in, executed their lines and lengths precisely and bundled them out for around 130. I think that basically tells you the story of the game.”

“[On the fearless approach of the young team] Yes, you have to approach the game that way. I think it’s all about attitude. Don’t pay too much attention to past performances. Keep moving forward and more importantly, stay in the present. You have to make the most of every opportunity you get.”
