The India national cricket team is all set to travel to Sri Lanka next month for the much-awaited Test series. While they have been performing much better in Tests, India’s white-ball dominance suffered a huge blow, losing two T20I series and an ODI series within the space of two months.

Before the trip to Sri Lanka, the India national cricket team will travel to Zimbabwe for a three-match T20I series later this month. Now, they are aiming to make a strong comeback after embarrassing defeats in Ireland and England in white-ball games. Recently, Rohit Sharma gave a flying kiss to an emotional Ritika Sajdeh after scoring a century at Lord’s.

India’s complete Sri Lanka travel itinerary released

Meanwhile, the full schedule of India’s tour of Sri Lanka has been leaked, hours after they suffered a 27-run defeat in the third and final ODI against England at Lord’s. It is being said that the Indian cricket team will reach Colombo on August 4 before starting preparations for the two-match Test series.

The upcoming two-match Test series between India and Sri Lanka is part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle, so it holds great importance for both the teams.

Before the two WTC Test matches, India will play four-day practice matches to help the players get acclimated to Sri Lankan conditions. The practice match will be played at the Nondescript Cricket Club (NCC) Ground in Colombo from August 7.

After the practice match, the Indian team will travel to Galle for the opening Test, which will begin on August 15 at the Galle International Cricket Stadium in Galle. The second and final Test will be played at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC), Colombo from August 23.

India vs Sri Lanka Test Series Schedule:

date match venue Start Time(IST)
August 7-10 4 day practice match NCC Ground, Colombo
15-19 August first test match Galle International Stadium

India returned to Sri Lanka for Test after nine years

It is expected that the upcoming Test series will play a big role in the race for the ICC World Test Championship final. The Shubman Gill-led Indian team is currently placed fifth in the WTC standings, while Sri Lanka are right behind them at sixth. With valuable WTC points at stake, both teams will be desperate to make a winning start to the upcoming Test series.

This tour is special for India, as it will be their first Test series in Sri Lanka in nine years. The last time India played a red-ball series on Sri Lankan soil was in 2017. Well, even though the Sinhalese Sports Club now has floodlights, both matches will be played from 10:00 am.

Yuvraj Singh’s honest verdict on India’s poor performance

Meanwhile, legendary Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh feels the team’s poor performance on the recent UK tour should be seen as part of their rebuilding phase and urged patience.

The former World Cup winner admitted that India cannot ignore the disappointing results, but do not forget that this is a transition period and they have won three consecutive ICC trophies within a few years.

JioStar quoted Yuvraj as saying, “People should not forget what this Indian team has achieved in the last few years by winning three major titles. The team is in a period of change, new players are coming and such phases are bound to happen. Now is the time to rethink and make a comeback.”
