However, he did not disappoint the franchise as he became one of the best finishers for the franchise in recent years. However, he has not had the best performance in the 2026 season with the bat.
Shashank Singh was also criticized for dropping dolly catches during matches and as a result, he was also dropped from the team for his poor performance throughout the tournament. His time off the field also did not go well as he was embroiled in a controversy outside the game and charges were filed against him.

What happened to Shashank Singh?
Shashank Singh on Sunday addressed the issue of a police case brought against him and his family, claiming that the “false FIR” was used as a form of extortion to damage his reputation as a public figure.
The issue stems from an incident last month in which the Ratibad police in Bhopal lodged an FIR against Shashank and his father, former special director general of police (DG) Shailesh Singh, in response to a complaint by the chef hired at their home. The chef has accused the cricketer and his father of violence and abuse.

Shashank Singh tweeted, “This incident changed me forever and taught me lessons that I will carry with me throughout my life. I’m not writing this for sympathy. I’m writing this because it was the first time I and my family experienced something like this, and I hope others will learn from it.”
I’ve carried it with me for some time. Today, I’m choosing to share my perspective. Thanks to everyone who took the time to read this. 1/2 pic.twitter.com/BpbUvZFyoR

“As an athlete, I have faced criticism, trolling and abuse for years. I have learned to live with it. But this was different. Overnight, I was portrayed as someone who had beaten someone less privileged than me. Thousands of people abused me without knowing the truth.”
Shashank Singh raised questions on the FIR
The Punjab Kings batsman questioned the facts of the report and claimed that the chef had left his house without any apparent injuries. They said they were surprised to see the cook in a video, as he looked fine when he left their house. He further said that the family was finding it difficult to understand how the man suffered such horrific injuries.
He further said that the cook insisted on returning to his home but was sent back on the third day when they saw him roaming around the property, taking photographs and sending them to his friends, whom he now considers to be conspirators.
“When we later saw him on video, we were shocked, because he came out of our house completely unscathed. It took us time to understand how someone could be beaten so badly.”
“He came to our house on his own insistence, but we sent him back after the third day of him wandering around the house, taking pictures inside and sending them to his friends (or colleagues, now that I look back).
“Later, police records revealed that he had already 9 fir was registered against him and charge sheet was filed 8 cases For crimes including attempt to murder, house theft (which we later found out he had also committed at our house), assault, house trespass, extortion by causing hurt, criminal intimidation, obscene acts, offenses under the SC/ST Act and other offences.”
“He was using three different names to hide his identity. As more facts came to light, I became convinced that he had never entered our home with honest intentions. I believe the plan was to put pressure on me by filing a false FIR, hoping that I would pay money to protect his reputation as a public figure. In my view, the FIR was used as a tool of extortion rather than a genuine complaint Was.”
“I thank God” – Shashank Singh thanks God for saving his life
Shashank Singh said that he expressed happiness over the fact that he was at home with his parents on the day of the incident. He also warned people not to believe that someone was telling the truth just because they acted weak, sobbed, or sought sympathy. He concluded his remarks by saying that, although the truth may take time to emerge, it always prevails, ending with the words “Satyameva Jayate”.
“I thank God I was at home with my parents that day. I don’t want to imagine what could have happened otherwise. I believe my family escaped what could have been a much more serious situation. This experience taught me some hard lessons.”
“Never let empathy take the place of common sense. Always hire domestic help only through a registered agency after proper police verification. In today’s world, some people are willing to sell their honesty, integrity and discretion at surprisingly low prices.”
Shashank Singh concluded, “The idea that a known criminal, who was unknown to us at the time, had come so close to the safe confines of our home, still sends a shiver down my spine. Just because someone appears helpless, crying, or seeking sympathy does not mean he is telling the truth. The truth may take time, but it always prevails.” Satyamev Jayate.”
