The BCCI is seriously considering sending the India A team to Nepal for a bilateral series in the coming weeks. If all goes according to plan, India’s young domestic stars will get another chance to impress the selectors after the recent tour of Sri Lanka.
It is being said that the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has recently requested BCCI to send the India A team to Kathmandu. The board is now discussing the proposal, and reports suggest that the tour could take place in the last week of July or the first week of August 2026.

As reported by Sportstar, Aaj Tak and Times of India, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has confirmed that the board is considering Nepal’s request to send the India A team to Kathmandu.
The main objective of this tour is to give more match experience to the budding players of India, as well as help Nepal improve by playing against a strong Indian team with talented youth.
BCCI believes that India A tours are very important as they prepare young players for international cricket. The board now wants to make these tours more regular so that India A and India Under-19 players can get adequate experience before being selected for the senior national team.

India A series likely in Nepal in August 2026
At present, BCCI is working on a schedule to find the best possible window for the Nepal tour. Since the senior India team also has international matches around the same period, the board wants to ensure that the two schedules do not clash before giving final approval to the Nepal tour.
Good relations have developed between India and Nepal in the last few years. Ahead of the T20 World Cup Qualifiers in 2025, the Nepal national cricket team trained at the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. That training camp was part of efforts to improve cricket relations between the two countries and help Nepal prepare for major tournaments.
BCCI is reconsidering Sri Lanka tour after England crisis
Along with the Nepal tour, BCCI is also considering making changes to India’s tour of Sri Lanka in August. At present, India has to play a two-match Test series in Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav repeated his Trent Bridge century after India suffered a series defeat under Shreyas Iyer.
However, the board is reportedly discussing the possibility of adding a three-match T20I series after the Test series after the team rejected the offer following the England disaster.
There is ample time before India’s next international tour, so the BCCI is exploring whether those additional T20I matches can be included in the tour. The discussion is still going on.
Bangladesh tour under doubt, BCCI awaits government approval
On the other hand, India’s limited overs tour of Bangladesh in September 2026 is still uncertain. The BCCI has not yet confirmed whether the team will travel or not as the board is awaiting permission from the Indian government before taking a final decision.
If the Nepal tour is approved, it will be a great opportunity for many young Indian cricketers to showcase their talent at the highest level. With this tour, cricket relations between the two neighboring countries can become even stronger.
