Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is leaving no stone unturned as they are looking forward to hosting India in the near future. Earlier there was news that Team India can tour Bangladesh for the white ball series.
A series between India and Bangladesh in Bangladesh is looking more likely after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reportedly refused to face Sri Lanka for a T20I series in the island nation.

Why is the series between India and Bangladesh possible?
The Men in Blue will travel to Sri Lanka only for a Test series in August, with one slot kept vacant for September. Bangladesh Cricket Board’s security committee chairman Syed Ibrahim Ahmed told reporters on Tuesday that the BCB is trying its best to host the neighboring country in September.
Due to past disputes between the BCB, BCCI and ICC ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, the safety of cricketers in Bangladesh remains a matter of concern. Geopolitical tensions led to the dispute between the two countries.
Security remains a concern
Syed Ibrahim Ahmed assured that BCB will try its best to enhance the security of the cricketers. It is noteworthy that Syed Ibrahim Ahmed is the son of the current Home Minister of Bangladesh, Salahuddin Ahmed.

Saeed said security is always a concern for every team touring top cricket-playing nations; Bangladesh Cricket Board is well aware of this. Ibrahim also said that formal talks between BCB and BCCI have not started yet.
“Security is always a matter of concern for every touring team, especially for major cricket-playing nations. We have not yet formally initiated communication with them (BCCI). We are hopeful that there will be no complaints if the tour goes ahead as planned,” Ibrahim told reporters in Dhaka on Tuesday.
“We always strive to conduct our events in a controlled environment and ensure the highest standards of security. We will continue to do so. It (security measures) will depend on the situation (during the India series), and we will increase security if necessary,” he said.
BCB-BCCI is yet to take the final decision
However, amidst all the promises and possibilities, BCB has not received any encouraging message from BCCI. Bangladesh cricket officials are trying to convince BCCI so that a series can be organized in September.
“There has been no such positive message yet (with the BCCI) and we are still working out the details of the tour. We are trying to establish communication through our formal channels as the tour is going to happen very soon,” he said.
BCB will have to restore its relationship with BCCI as they have to host the 2027 Asia Cup. The upcoming Asia Cup is expected to be the 50-over Asia Cup in Bangladesh, which will be held from June 18 to July 4, 2027. For the multi-nation tournament, BCB has already started its preparations. Dhaka, Sylhet and Chattogram are considered as possible venues for the specific tournament.
