He said the name without hesitation Gujarat Titans (GT) head coach Ashish Nehra.

Ashish Nehra. He has an amazing cricketing mind. But sometimes he scares me. He is also the funniest guy, yet, is a father figure to all the players.”Sudarshan confessed with a smile.

Sudarshan acknowledged Shubman Gill and Gautam Gambhir as pillars of support and independence

Apart from Nehra’s tactical intensity, Sudarshan credits the Indian captain for his rapid maturity Shubman Gill. Recalling his early days with the franchise, the southpaw recalled how Gill acted as a founding anchor when he faced the frustration of being kept on the bench due to tactical combinations.

When I first came to GT I looked at him as a role model. In my second year, even when I was performing well, I was dropped due to team combination. He would always come and talk to me and point out small areas in which I could improve“Sudarshan shared.

He said that having a peer-turned-captain to whom he can message anytime is a “blessing”, especially as they now share the dressing room for Team India.

This nurturing environment extends to the national team under the head coach Gautam Gambhir. Sudarshan lauded Gambhir for instilling a culture of complete psychological safety, which was on full display during India’s recent innings and 300-run win over Afghanistan in New Chandigarh. According to Sudarshan, Gambhir’s coaching philosophy eliminates the fear of failure, allowing players to prioritize collective victory rather than individual achievements.

“The most important thing for a player in a team is freedom of expression. He is a person who says do whatever you want to do and I will support you.”. He is creating an environment where players are more expressive. He is a really nice person who supports the players a lot,” said Sudarshan. With the support of Nehra, Gill and Gambhir, Sudarshan is set to lead India’s top order for years to come.
