Bangladesh has announced the squad for the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe. The Bangla Tigers have been in their best form in recent times, defeating Pakistan 2–0 in the Test series, followed by beating them in the ODI series, winning it 2–1, and then defeated Australia in an ODI series on home soil for the first time in their history.

Mehdi Hasan Miraz’s side lost the T20 series against the Australian team, but they would like to turn things around. Ahead of the Zimbabwe ODI matches, Liton Kumar Das was declared fit after recovering from a calf injury. The experienced batsman has been dropped from the Test series and T20 series. But according to Cricbuzz report, Liton Das is ready to play in the 50-over format.

The wicketkeeper batsman got injured during the ODI series against Australia in Dhaka and thus missed the T20I series against Bangladesh, as Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan was replaced in the Test squad. There were availability issues for Liton Das; However, he has resumed training at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium and is expected to be fit in time.

“It’s a big relief that he is back. Our physio is confident that he will be fit ahead of the ODIs, given that he is an integral part of our all-format set-up,” BCB chief selector Habibul Bashar told Cricbuzz on Thursday. However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) granted No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Liton Das and fast bowler Taskin Ahmed to participate in the Lanka Premier League (LPL).

Bangladesh eyes another historic milestone

The Zimbabwe tour begins with a one-off Test match at the historic Harare Sports Club from June 28 to July 2. After the completion of the longest format, the emphasis will shift to the 50-over format. All three ODI matches will be played at Harare Sports Club.

The T20 matches to be held on 6, 9 and 11 July will also be played at the Harare Sports Club. All matches are scheduled to start at 1:30 PM Bangladesh Standard Time. The BCB said the first batch of Test team members will leave Dhaka on June 21, while others will join the touring team later.

Nazmul Hussain Shanto will take charge of the T-20 team.

In his absence, Liton Das will be the captain of the T20 team, with Nazmul Hussain Shanto leading the team. Hasan Mahmood and Soumya Sarkar have been dropped from the primary squad, while Saifuddin returns to the team after an absence of one and a half years. Tanzeed Hasan has earned his first selection in the T20I squad.
