In a surprise move, Ryan Cook has stepped down as head coach of the Netherlands men’s cricket team with immediate effect, as his family welcomed their second child.
Currently, Heino Kuhn, the batting coach of the Netherlands men’s cricket team, has been appointed as the head coach of the team on an interim basis. The Cricket Governing Board of Netherlands informed about the development on June 24, 2026.

Ryan Cook’s departure is a big blow to the team, as he has been in the position since 2022. Under his guidance, the men’s cricket team has seen significant progress over the years, and with several emerging talents from domestic cricket, they are also looking promising for the upcoming endeavours.
To carry forward progress, the cricket governing body will need to announce a suitable replacement for the position. According to the official statement released by the country’s cricket board, Heino Kuhn will be the coach on an interim basis for the upcoming CWCL2 matches in July.

It has been an immense pleasure to lead the journey towards professionalism and build a competitive cricket team with strong values. I thank KNCB and the Dutch cricket community for their continued support over the years,” Ryan Cook said in a statement.
He said, “KNCB and the team deserve someone who can give the work the complete, sustained focus and presence that is needed now. I know the foundation is strong and the future is bright.”

In March 2022, when he was the head coach of the team, the Orange Brigade hosted West Indies, England and Pakistan for the Super League.
