The Indian national cricket team’s superstars continue to dominate the latest ICC ODI rankings updated by the International Cricket Council on Wednesday, June 24. Captain Shubman Gill is now a few inches away from becoming the world number one batsman in ODI cricket.

Despite missing the recent three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, Virat Kohli remains in the top 5 batsmen in the latest ICC ODI rankings. Rohit Sharma also managed to remain in the top 5 in the updated rankings after his brilliant half-century against Afghanistan in Chennai.
Shubman Gill on the verge of becoming No. 1 ODI batsman; Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in top 5
Shubman Gill’s impressive performance in the recent ODI series against Afghanistan has helped him climb three places in the updated ICC ODI batting rankings. The stylish right-hander is now ranked world No. 2 and just 24 rating points behind New Zealand star Daryl Mitchell, who currently tops the rankings with 815 ranking points.

Given the form Gill is in, the Indian captain is likely to overtake Mitchell in the upcoming ODI series in England. However, Gill’s jump pushed Virat Kohli to third place with 768 rating points, followed by Rohit Sharma (754 rating points) at fourth place, with Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran (713 rating points) joining the top 5 in the updated rankings.
