The England national cricket team is currently playing in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, which is taking place in England and Wales. During the 10th edition of the competition, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced the squads for the upcoming one-off Test between the England women’s national cricket team and the India women’s national cricket team.

The squad was announced late on Thursday afternoon, with Nat Sciver-Brunt becoming the first English cricketer to lead his side in a Test at London’s prestigious Lord’s Cricket Ground. This is the first time that a women’s international test match will be hosted at this venue and it will be a wonderful moment for cricketers from both the countries to play on this ground.

England announces squad for one-off Test against India

Alice Capsey, Tilly Courteney-Coleman and Mady Villiers are the new names included in the squad and will be hoping to make their Test debuts, while Grace Potts and Ellie Threlkeld will earn their first international caps in any format.

This is a relatively new squad from the last Test match, as five of the squad’s seven players did not play in England’s most recent Women’s Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCC) in January last year, and Lancashire’s Emma Lamb and Warwickshire’s Issie Wong have also been added to the squad.

ECB’s Managing Director of Women’s Cricket, Claire Connor, commented on the team selection. “We have selected a strong Test team led by Nat Sciver-Brunt for some more historic days at Lord’s for women’s cricket,” he said.

“Test cricket is a rare and surprisingly challenging experience in the women’s game and I know how proud our players are to represent England in this format. For the 11 women who will be the first to enjoy that feeling at Lord’s, it will be a moment to cherish.”

ECB keeps a close eye on Nat Sciver-Brunt

England Women captain Nat Sciver-Brunt has suffered a left calf muscle strain, the same area as her previous injury. The injury occurred while batting against Ireland Women in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup group match in Southampton on Tuesday.

She is expected to be out for two matches as she continues to be monitored and assessed by the ECB’s England medical team as she continues her rehabilitation while with the squad. Vice-captain Charlie Dean will take charge in the absence of Nat Sciver-Brunt during the next two matches. However, since the former player has been appointed captain of the Test team, the ECB is hopeful that she will be back soon.
