Just before the start of the three-match T20 series against Australia, the Bangladesh national cricket team has suffered a major setback. Captain Liton Das is doubtful for the opening match of the T20I series after suffering an injury in the recently concluded three-match ODI series against Australia.
With the first T20I starting on Wednesday (June 17), the Bangladesh national cricket team management is now closely monitoring Das’s condition. The final decision on the wicketkeeper-batsman’s availability is expected only after further medical assessment.

Liton Das is injured before the T20 series against Australia
Liton Das suffered an injury while batting in the third and final ODI against Australia on Sunday. He was in good form but during his innings he suddenly felt discomfort and had to leave the field before completing his innings. At that time Liton had scored 48 runs and was forced to retire hurt.
However, after receiving treatment, Liton Das showed great determination and returned to the crease to complete his innings and register his maiden ODI half-century. Even after finishing his batting, Liton was not fit enough to continue on the field. He did not take up wicketkeeping duties, being replaced by Nurul Hasan behind the stumps for the remainder of the match.
Liton Das remains under observation as Bangladesh await fitness update
Initial reports suggest that the Bangladesh captain has suffered a leg muscle injury. The medical team has kept him under observation and is carefully examining the severity of the injury before taking any final decision. Due to this setback, Liton’s playing in the T20 series is currently uncertain.

The Bangladesh team management does not want to take any unnecessary risks with their captain, especially when he needs more time to recover from the injury. The three-match T20 series against Australia will be played in Chattogram from Wednesday.
The second and third matches are scheduled for June 19 and June 21. Recently, they won a historic ODI series over Australia. Meanwhile, Cameron Green has withdrawn his name from the Bangladesh T20 series.
Liton Das reveals big mindset change
Meanwhile, Liton Das revealed that Pakistani great and Bangladesh spin bowling coach Mushtaq helped him change his mindset.
Das was quoted in a podcast presented by leading Bengali newspaper Prothom Alo: “He (Mushtaq) changed my mindset, and nowadays I am not too worried about the result.”
It is being said that the World Cup winning star regularly supports Bangladesh players with his mental strength whenever they need help.
“He is a World Cup-winning cricketer and has seen everything and can explain things to cricketers very well,” Cricbuzz quoted an official as saying.
“The cricketers also keep his words close to their heart considering his career and experience. You can say he is guiding our cricketers, though not in an official capacity. He has worked extensively with Liton, among others,” he said.
Mushtaq later explained that his main goal was to remove Liton’s fear of failure. He had shared, “It doesn’t matter how much talent or skill you have; if you doubt your success, if you doubt your process, then obviously consistency will never come.”
