Cricket Ireland High-Performance Center head Graeme West has admitted that the Ireland national cricket team is already making special plans for teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi for the upcoming two-match T20 series starting in Belfast from June 26.
West believes that the young Indian batsman’s incredible IPL 2026 form has made him a major threat. Vaibhav has made tremendous progress over the last two IPL seasons with Rajasthan Royals and has become one of the most talked-about young players in the world.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s dream IPL 2026 season calls him to India for the first time
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s IPL 2026 campaign was absolutely extraordinary and Rahul Dravid urged fans not to compare the teenager with others. The left-handed opening batsman finished as the tournament’s leading run-scorer with 776 runs in 16 matches at a breathtaking strike rate of 237.30. His fearless style and record-breaking performances got him called up to India for the first time.
At the age of just 15 years and 71 days, the young opening batsman became the youngest male cricketer to get a call-up to the senior Indian national team. The selectors have selected India’s T20 squad for the Ireland and England tours as well as the 2026 Asian Games.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s IPL form has forced Ireland to prepare a strong strategy
Ahead of India’s tour of Ireland, Graeme West revealed that the Irish team is well aware of Vaibhav’s sensational performances, hence the coaching staff and analysts are working hard to formulate strategies to keep the Indian sensation under control in the upcoming T20 series.

“We watched the IPL very closely and saw how well he performed. It certainly felt like he had a good chance of being selected. His inclusion certainly adds extra profile and attention to the series,” RevSportz quoted Graeme West as saying.
Playing against the world champion is already a big challenge and having a young player in such good form only adds to the challenge. This will also increase public interest and media attention towards sports. Our analysts will no doubt be hard at work developing plans for them before they arrive in Belfast.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi Effect! Ireland expects huge surge in demand for tickets for India T20 series
The head of the Cricket Ireland High-Performance Center also said that the India tour had already generated huge excitement and admitted that the addition of Vaibhav Suryavanshi would attract even more fans and increase demand for the remaining tickets for the T20I series.
West said, “The interest generated around the trip to India was already high even before his selection. Ticket sales reflected this. However, if any tickets remain available, his inclusion will certainly generate even greater demand. We are expecting a full house for both matches, which is fantastic for our players.”
“One of our challenges is to create the kind of atmosphere and pressure that players experience at the World Cup. Playing in front of a packed crowd helps our players learn to deal with those situations. We are looking forward to both of these games on many different levels.”
Notably, Vaibhav is currently making headlines with his fearless batting for India A in the triangular ODI series in Sri Lanka. After scoring 14 runs against Sri Lanka A in the first match, the 15-year-old scored 44 runs with the help of nine fours in just 22 balls against Afghanistan A.
