After consistently sensational innings in the Indian Premier League, India Under-19 and domestic cricket, Vaibhav Suryavanshi received his maiden call-up to the senior Indian national cricket team on Saturday afternoon for the upcoming T20 matches against Ireland and England and the 2026 Asian Games in Japan.

Suryavanshi is on the verge of making her debut at just 15 years of age, while there is still a long way to go in the future. After the announcement of the national cricket team, Rajasthan Royals shared a video of Vaibhav Suryavanshi.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s dream is to play in all three formats for India.

Through the video, the highly talented opening batsman expressed that his dream is to represent his country in all three formats including Test cricket. As of now, the southpaw is mostly recognized as a T20 batsman, but the batsman does not want to limit himself to just one format.

While talking to great cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, Vaibhav expressed his desire to play Test for India. He says the same in the video shared by Rajasthan Royals.

The Bihar batsman, who scored 776 runs at a whopping strike rate of 237.30 during the IPL 2026 season, claims that he has been practicing with the red ball for a long time, and believes that he can also play in the longest format of the game in the future.

I want to play red-ball cricket: Vaibhav

“I want to play red-ball cricket because I practice with the red ball. My dream is to play for India in all three formats[I want to play red-ball cricket because I practice with the red ball]. He further said that people talked a lot about red ball cricket, which gave him more inspiration to represent the country in this format. So far, he has faced the red ball in batting sessions and domestic cricket.

“A lot of people talk about red-ball cricket. I was also asked if I wanted to play red-ball cricket in the future. I told them that I have practiced extensively with the red ball and will continue to do so. I have also played a lot of red-ball cricket for my state and continue to play it regularly,” says the young batsman.

Vaibhav vowed to play as per the demands of the format

Proving his game-consciousness at just 15, Vaibhav Suryavanshi further explains that he will have to adopt a new approach to Tests as per the demands of the format.

“Every format has different requirements. I bat the way I do in this format because it demands it. In red-ball cricket, I will adapt my batting as per the requirement. In ODIs too, I will adjust my game depending on the demands of the format. My dream is to play in all three formats. The rest is in God’s hands,” he said.
