Along with the squad for upcoming T20I events including the Asian Games 2026, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the full India A squad for their multi-day match in Sri Lanka. India A will tour Sri Lanka for a multi-day match starting on June 25.

For India A’s multi-day match, the Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel has named Dhruv Jurel as its captain. The team includes many well-known faces of Indian cricket like Sai Sudarshan, Devudutt Padikkal (vice captain), Narayan Jagadeesan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Anshul Kamboj, Auqib Nabi and many others.

While Jurel, Sudarshan, Gaikwad, Padikkal and Kamboj have prior experience of playing for the national team, several players including Ranji Trophy 2025-26 top wicket-taker Auqib Nabi have also found a place in the squad.

India A squad for the multi-day tour of Sri Lanka: Dhruv Jurel (captain), Sai Sudarshan, Ayush Badoni, Devdutt Padikkal (vice-captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Saransh Jain, Gurnoor Brar, Auqib Nabi, Yash Thakur, Anshul Kamboj, N Jagadeesan, Aman Mokhade, Sheikh Rashid, Zeeshan Ansari.

“For the two multi-day matches in Sri Lanka, Dhruv Jurel Will be the captain and wicketkeeper of India A team. Devdutt Padikkal will be the vice-captain. N Jagadeesan will be the second wicketkeeper.” Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Devjit Saikia said in the press conference.

Dhruv Jurel, mostly known as a wicketkeeper-batsman, has prior captaincy experience in his resume. Jurel led the Indian team Under-19 Asia Cup title in Sri Lanka (2019) and served as vice captain At the 2020 ICC Under-19 World Cup in South Africa.

He was the captain in domestic cricket central area Cricket team for the 2025–26 Duleep Trophy season.

Some fans on social media platforms expressed their surprise to see Jurel as the captain of the India A team. This appointment makes sense as he has previous experience in this role and since he has played for Team India in the past, he knows how to work under pressure. However, there are some other names in the team who can also be made leaders.
