The Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) is over, but the havoc that Vaibhav Suryavanshi created during the season left a deep impression. The Orange Cap holder and many other individual award winners of the season became a nightmare for the bowlers. Pat Cummins, one of the most famous bowlers in modern cricket, felt the wrath of the 15-year-old batsman.
While speaking on Fox Cricket, Pat Cummins wished that if Vaibhav Suryavanshi had been in school, he would not have had to bowl. Cummins was among those victims who proved ineffective against the rising Indian batsman.
An extraordinary IPL season for Vaibhav Suryavanshi
IPL 2026 has proved to be a remarkable season for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals opening batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Days after the IPL 2026 final, the cricket fraternity is busy trying to understand the extreme aggression of the Royals batsman.
On May 27, against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 97 runs at a strike rate of 334.48. That innings of 29 balls included a tremendous number of five fours and twelve sixes.
Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins was in the game but could not do much against the aggressive teenage sensation. Cummins returned without taking any wicket and gave away 64 runs in his spell of 4 overs. Australia’s leading fast bowler produced only three dot balls in his spell.

“He’s a talent. He hits the ball a long way; he hits it very hard. There’s very little margin for error. He’s a real talent who is very difficult to bowl to,” Cummins said on Fox Cricket.
He said, “I wish he was in high school, so I wouldn’t have to bowl to him. It’s unbelievable. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a 15-year-old bat like that. Whether he’s a 30-year-old or a 15-year-old, he’s a great hitter.”
It was not just Pat Cummins who came into Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s attack, but other top bowlers like Mitchell Starc, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood also scored runs against the young batsman. Vaibhav finished his 2026 Indian Premier League season with 776 runs and a strike rate of over 230.
