India selection was a big achievement in itself, but the idea of ​​sharing the Indian dressing room with two modern-day greats, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, has made the occasion even more special for Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder Harsh Dubey.

Dubey has grown up watching Rohit and Kohli dominate world cricket. The youngster admitted that one of his biggest wishes was to play with either Kohli or Rohit before retiring from international cricket. Now, with both Rohit and Kohli in the team, it is a dream come true moment for them.

“If you ask any young cricketer who they want to play with right now, the first two names would be Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. I have grown up watching them. Ever since I started understanding cricket, they have been performing for India and dominating world cricket,” Harsh Dubey said on Geostar.
“So, getting a chance to play with him is a big achievement for me. I always wanted to play with at least one of the legends before he retires or whenever his final phase comes. Even if I get a chance to play a match with him, it will be a dream come true moment for me.”

Interestingly, Dubey revealed that he was at the Chennai airport with his Sunrisers Hyderabad teammates when he first got the news of his selection in India. As his flight was delayed, he was waiting in the airport lounge when he received a call from a cricket social media manager congratulating him on being selected for the ODI team.
However, Dubey misunderstood the news due to noise and poor network connection and assumed it was about the Sri Lanka A ODI tri-series. And responding, “I said it feels like a step closer to the dream and my focus is still on the IPL.”

It felt like a dream: Harsh Dubey’s emotional reaction on India call-up
The SRH all-rounder said he was shocked and emotional after seeing his name named in both India’s Test and ODI squads and admitted that the news was so surreal that he felt like it was a dream.
Dubey further said, “As soon as I hung up the phone, I started getting messages that I had got the call-up for both Test and ODI. I was confused because the team had just been announced, so I immediately checked online and saw the news.”
“To be honest, it took me a few minutes to understand what had happened. Even when Murali sir asked me who were the other spinners in the team, I told him I had only seen my name. In fact it felt like I was dreaming.”
