Peshawar Zalmi under the leadership of Babar Azam emerged as the winners of the PSL 2026 season. While Babar himself topped the list of run-scorers in the season, Sufiyan Muqim was in great form, taking 22 wickets in 11 matches at an economy rate of 7.20.

Sufiyan Muqeem’s emergence was meteoric
A few years ago Sufiyan Muqeem was considered one of the most talented spinners in the world. He first made headlines during the 2023 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. In the final, against arch-rivals India, the spinner took 3 for 66, helping the Pakistan ‘A’ team defeat the India ‘A’ team.
After excellent bowling figures, the national team selectors did not waste time in including Mukeem in the senior team. He made his T20I debut for the Pakistan national cricket team against Hong Kong in the Asian Games in October 2023.
Just when everything seemed to be going well for Makim, an injury slowed his progress. This was the first time since his rise to the highest level of the game that he had to sit out of the field. He missed almost the entire first half of 2024 because he had to undergo serious knee surgery.
In 2024, he made a brilliant comeback and also got his ODI debut cap. But, suddenly, he started losing his temperament and became irregular in the national cricket team.
