Rajasthan Royals teenage player Vaibhav Suryavanshi reflects on his and the team’s sensational IPL 2026 season.
RR finished fourth on the points table before winning the eliminator against third-placed Sunrisers Hyderabad and making it to Qualifier 2, where they lost to eventual runners-up GT.

In the group stage the team won 8 out of its 14 matches and made it to the playoffs on the last day of the league stage. Despite winning each of their first four matches, RR lost 6 of their next 8 matches and found themselves in a must-win situation ahead of the playoffs.

By the end of the season, Vaibhav Suryavanshi had won almost every individual award given by the IPL.

At the awards ceremony after the IPL 2026 final on Sunday, Suryavanshi won five individual awards. He was awarded the Orange Cap (most runs in the season), Super Six Award (most sixes in the season), Super Striker Award (highest strike rate in the season), MVP Award and Emerging Player Award.

In a video posted by Rajasthan Royals on their social handles, all the players were seen going back to their homes, and the franchise asked them for their testimonials for this season.
Suryavanshi was asked to elaborate on his rapport with his teammates and he said that everyone in the team is like his family.
“I will miss everyone here. Everyone was like my family, so I will especially miss them all,” the teen said.
“We will try to bring our second trophy next season” – Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s message to fans
When asked if he had any message for the fans, Suryavanshi said that the team will try to do next year what they could not do this year.
Kishore said that the team will try its best to bring back the IPL trophy next year.
“My only message is that whatever didn’t happen this year, hopefully we will make up for it next year and win our second IPL trophy,” he said.
Rajasthan Royals have never won the IPL again since winning the first edition of the tournament in 2008. Ironically, Vaibhav Suryavanshi was not even born when RR won their only IPL trophy.
