Former India batsman Ajay Jadeja recently revealed that he appealed to India’s chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar to try to include teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the Indian team as soon as possible.
Despite being only 15 years old, Suryavanshi has made everyone fight hard to be included in the Indian team. His heroics in IPL 2026 have earned him fans across the globe, with everyone wondering how far he can go.

Jadeja spoke to reporters after the IPL final in Ahmedabad on Sunday, where Royal Challengers Bangalore defended their IPL title from last year.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi in IPL 2026
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s explosiveness with the bat has been the biggest talking point of IPL 2026. Suryavanshi almost single-handedly led Rajasthan Royals to Qualifier 2 and eventually finished third.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 776 runs in IPL 2026 at a strike rate of 237 and hit 72 sixes. There were also 5 half-centuries and one century. If he had not been out thrice in the 90s, he could have increased his centuries further.

The left-handed batsman also played arguably his best innings of the season when he scored 97 runs off just 29 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the eliminator.
Suryavanshi walked away with five different awards at the awards ceremony after the IPL final on Sunday.
He was awarded the Orange Cap (most runs in the season), Super Six Award (most sixes in the season), Super Striker Award (highest strike rate in the season), MVP Award and Emerging Player Award.
“If you don’t play him now, when will he play?” -Jadeja
Speaking to reporters after the match, Ajay Jadeja revealed that he met selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar and asked him to include Vaibhav in the Indian team soon.
“What else can he do now? I got the chairman, and I said to him, “Sir, if you don’t include him in the team now, when will you do it?” It doesn’t matter what his age is; he is doing very well,” Jadeja said when asked about Suryavanshi’s India prospects.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s cricket career
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s cricket career outside the IPL has been mostly limited to the Under-19 level, but he has still done remarkable things in senior men’s cricket.
At the Under-19 level, he was crowned World Cup winner earlier this year after demolishing England with a knock of 175 off 80 balls in the final.
In September 2024, he scored the second fastest century ever in a Youth Test at the age of just 13 with a century in 58 balls against Australia.
In December 2025, he scored a century in 36 balls against Arunachal Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. That day, he scored the fastest 150 in List-A history by achieving the milestone in 59 balls and eventually scored 190 off just 84 balls.
He also has the second and third fastest centuries in IPL history.
