“People think I like to hit every ball, but this is the T20 format, and the coaches give me free rein to play with full force. And I hit the balls only because I know I can hit them, and it’s not out of any compulsion,” he said.
The young batsman then revealed that representing India in Test cricket is one of his biggest ambitions.
“Obviously, I want to play Test cricket because my father also taught me that it is the highest format and I have played it as well. However, I still have many matches to play. I have played Ranji Trophy cricket but did not get many opportunities and it was challenging for me. But I will continue to work on that aspect of my game,” he said.
Remarkably, Vaibhav SuryavanshiFirst class numbers are still quite modest. He has played eight first-class matches so far and has scored 207 runs in 12 innings at an average of 17.25. His highest score in first-class cricket is 93 and he has only one half-century to his name.
