Harbhajan Singh’s advice to Yashasvi Jaiswal before GT vs RR match

The former cricketer explains that Suryavanshi is a natural six-hitter and Jaiswal is a natural four-hitter, hence the difference between the two batsmen. So far, Jaiswal has scored 426 runs in 15 innings at a strike rate of 152.23.

According to Harbhajan, Jaiswal is trying to play like Suryavanshi, with emphasis on hitting more sixes instead of focusing on hitting fours.

“If I am in the RR camp, I would just tell them one thing, ‘You don’t need to try to be Vaibhav Suryavanshi. You have to remain Jaiswal.’ Jaiswal is right, he is far ahead of many players. “Not many have a game like his,” Harbhajan Singh said on Star Sports ahead of RR’s IPL 2026 Qualifier 2 against Gujarat Titans.

“Yashshvi just needs to time the ball. He is also trying to hit the ball too hard, which is causing his body weight to go backwards, and the ball to go in the air. He just needs to get himself back and play on the ground and time the ball.”

He said, “He has never been a player who hits that many sixes. That’s the difference between Jaiswal and Suryavanshi. Suryavanshi is a six-hitter and Jaiswal is a four-hitter. When a player who hits fours tries to hit a six, his body weight increases. So, if he tries to hit a four, the sixes will automatically come in that flow.”

Harbhajan has predicted a close match

Harbhajan further revealed that GT has a stronger bowling attack than Sunrisers Hyderabad. At the moment the momentum is with the Royals, but due to Gujarat’s quality bowling line-up, the match is going to be very competitive.

Harbhajan said, “The match is in Punjab. Shubman Gill will feel at home. However, I think Rajasthan are definitely a little ahead because of pace, but the kind of team and bowling attack GT has, they will not give runs like SRH.”
