Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council Chairman Arun Dhumal and BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia’s “honey-trap” remarks led fans to start creating their own theories online.

Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had sent a strong message to all the IPL franchises and asked them to remain alert and maintain strict discipline throughout the season.

However, IPL Governing Council chairman Arun Dhumal clarified that no issue related to “honey trap” has emerged in this edition. IPL. He insisted that the tournament has been a clean one and no such specific incidents have emerged within the teams.

Times of India quoted Arun Dhumal as saying, “To my knowledge there have been no issues with regard to honey-trapping or things like that. It is a very clean tournament. Yes, there have been some issues. For example, Riyan Parag [vaping] Incident which we could have avoided. Barring that, I don’t think any such incident took place.”

The IPL chairman also refrained from commenting on Devjit Saikia’s “honey-trap” statement and said he was not aware of any such specific issue involving the players or the franchise.

Dhumal said, “I am not aware of any such information. He would be the best person to comment on it. But as far as my understanding and knowledge, nothing like that has happened in this edition. I have not heard his comment, so I would not like to comment on it.”
He also described the ongoing IPL 2026 season as “unprecedented”. The chairman said, “It has been an unprecedented season this year. Like all previous editions, till the last day of the league stage, we did not know who would be the fourth team to qualify. There is the same excitement around the IPL every season. The quality of the games we have played so far has been phenomenal.”
