Australian veteran fast bowler and Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins’ latest decision on Nitish Kumar Reddy has shown some degree of dependence on the star Indian all-rounder.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, despite some great seasons, are in the eliminator in the current season of IPL as they can manage to finish third in the points table. They defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in the last league match of the season.
Sunrisers finished third in the points table with nine wins from 14 matches in the season. However, despite having a great season with the bat, their net run rate was much lower than that of the Royal Challengers and Gujarat Titans.
Cummins backed Nitish Kumar Reddy after the heavy workload in IPL 2026, saying, “He has probably covered five kilometres.”

SRH captain Pat Cummins said, “I think he is on another level this year. He has probably covered five kilometers; he looks really fit and strong. He has had a few injuries in the past as well, which have hampered his bowling.”
“Also, he offers something different to anyone else in the bowling lineup. He can really swing the ball, so he has got a chance with the new ball a few times. So that’s another point of difference – he is different from Shakib, Ishan, or me or Hinz. So yes, it creates a more complete attack,” he said on what makes Nitish important to the SRH attack.

“We talk as a bowling group before every game, maybe to figure out certain parts of the opponent, but also to find out what our strengths are. Yes, I’ve chatted with them quite a bit. They’re both great guys; they want to learn; they want to try new things. They had some questions; I’m not sure I gave them good answers, but yes, we love bouncing ideas off each other.
Sunrisers Hyderabad have dominated their matches to make it to the playoffs
Sunrisers Hyderabad began their winning streak after managing just one win from the opening four matches of the season. Ishan Kishan helped SRH make a comeback until the return of Pat Cummins, who missed the early part of the season due to a recurring back injury.
