The match was void, so the result of the match will have no impact on the top four of the IPL 2026 points table. In response to DC’s 203 runs, KKR could score only 163 runs in 18.4 overs, losing all its wickets.
One over from Kuldeep Yadav changed the entire course of the Kolkata Knight Riders vs Delhi Capitals (KKR vs DC) match tonight. At one point in the match, when KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane was in the middle, batting with pure confidence, they looked good enough to claim victory.

But, ultimately only Delhi Capitals won at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. As soon as Rahane returned to the pavilion, the rest of the batting unit disintegrated.
Ajinkya Rahane is happy with his efforts
At the presentation ceremony, the KKR captain mentioned that the wicket was not very easy to bat on in the early part of the innings. Despite losing the top four spots, Rahane is proud of his teammates as they made an extraordinary comeback after consecutive defeats in the first half of the group stage.
“Yeah, I mean, the wicket was a bit difficult at the beginning. I was batting really well and knew a batsman had to go through, so I tried to take my chances. I was really looking to target the strike rotation as well. Talking about the kind of season we had, I’m really proud of everyone.

KKR captain positive despite defeat
“To be in the position we were in after six matches and then to come back from there, it took character, good attitude and resilience to survive the league and play that kind of cricket. I’m really proud of each individual,” Ajinkya Rahane said.
“A lot of positives. In the first half of the season, there were important moments where we were losing, but after that, it is never easy to come back from there. The IPL is a long tournament with a lot of pressure and high-pressure situations.”
He further supported the team, saying, “But still, staying strong, having that character and attitude in every game and trying your best for the team – inside the dressing room, we were all really happy.”
Rahane told his future!
Rahane confirmed that after the break, they will be in touch with everyone to discuss their next plans for the next season. The batsman also said that after a few days off, he will be featured in the local league of Mumbai.
“I think people have their own commitments at the moment. We’ll just go to our homes, maybe take some time off, and then obviously we’ll probably connect on a call or Zoom and discuss moving forward.
“For me, just a few days off. I am going to play my local league in Mumbai, which I am really looking forward to. As long as I am playing cricket, I am happy. Yes, a few days off and then back to cricket,” the KKR captain concluded.
