Australia’s Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins has finally broken his silence on reports that he is looking to South Africa’s SA20 for a possible better deal with his senior teammates as they are unhappy with the salaries offered in the Big Bash League (BBL).

The Age reported that some of the top Australian cricketers, including captain Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc, are planning to approach Cricket Australia (CA) for NOC to play in the SA20 if they are not paid their true value in the BBL.

He reportedly wants a BBL contract worth around $1 million to remain committed to Australia’s T20 competition. Over the years, leagues like SA20 and The Hundred have become very powerful due to the huge amount of money involved.

Many cricketers around the world are now choosing franchise leagues over international events and Australia may soon have to face the same situation.
The report also suggests that there have already been some confidential discussions among senior players about their future plans as they feel that the BBL is no longer able to compete financially with the biggest T20 leagues around the world, even The Hundred.

Responding to the rumours, Cummins completely rejected the claims and said that the story of him seeking NOC from Cricket Australia for SA20 or getting an offer from The Hundred was simply not true.
