Shubman Gill knows very well how to grab attention, and this time, he made fun of his own close friend Abhishek Sharma after mocking top teams like Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026).

Gill shared a photo with SRH’s Ishan Kishan and Abhishek on Twitter (previously Twitter) and captioned it, “Hearts still true, and houses still raw.”

The funny but interesting thing is that this line was actually related to an old conversation that happened earlier this year. During the BCCI awards ceremony, when presenter Sahiba Bali was interviewing Gill and Abhishek, the topic of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s IPL trophy prospects came up.

Shubman Gill’s old cruel joke on SRH and Abhishek Sharma goes viral after GT Captain’s latest joke

Gill, who is known for his calm but sharp humour, had asked, “When did SRH last win?” To which Abhishek replied, “SRH won long ago.”

Then, the GT captain jokingly reminded his Indian teammate of SRH’s long wait for another IPL title since the 2016 glory. His one-liner during that conversation “SRH then aakhri jeeti thi jab ghar kachche, aur dil sachhe hote the” became very popular on social media at that time.

Abhishek could only smile before saying, “Won’t say anything this time… might win.” (This time I won’t say anything… maybe we’ll win eventually.)

It seems Gill remembered that conversation well, because months later, when Gujarat Titans completely defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gill took the opportunity to bring back the same punchline to troll Abhishek and his franchise.

Fans linked the latest trolling to that old viral moment, and within minutes the post went viral on the social media platform as Gill made fun of SRH’s long wait for the IPL title.

Sunrisers Hyderabad register lowest score of IPL after shocking defeat against GT

Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad had a memorable night in Ahmedabad as their aggressive batting style failed miserably against Gujarat Titans. Chasing 169, SRH were all out for just 86 runs in 14.5 overs, their lowest total in IPL history.

Mohammed Siraj gave a great start to Gujarat by dismissing Travis Head for a duck in the very first over. Soon after, Kagiso Rabada dismissed Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan twice. After which, the middle order completely collapsed due to the aggressiveness of Jason Holder and Prasidh Krishna, so dangerous batsman Heinrich Klaasen also failed to save the team.

Captain Pat Cummins tried to make a comeback with some big shots, but the match was already out of his hands and Gujarat Titans registered their dominant win to top the IPL 2026 points table with 16 points. SRH, on the other hand, slipped to third place with 12 points.
