At one time, Krunal Pandya fell on the ground holding his leg due to pain. Despite the pressure of the competition and the match being in limbo at that time, Mumbai Indians wicketkeeper Ryan Rickelton quickly ran towards Krunal and tried to help him stretch his leg.

During that moment, Badrinath made a light-hearted comment in Tamil, explaining the situation from the rival team’s perspective. The commentator said on air, “Look, he already had a leg cramp… It’s like the opposition said, ‘Hey, you die from that cramp!’ – But – but still, it’s okay (Rickleton helped him).”

However, many people misunderstood the comments after the short clip went viral online without full context. Soon, angry reactions started pouring in on social media, with many fans criticizing the former CSK batsman for his comments on Pandya during the tough challenge.

As the controversy escalated, Badrinath decided to explain the entire situation publicly and reveal what he really meant. The former Indian batsman clarified that he was actually praising Ryan Rickelton and Mumbai Indians for showing sportsmanship during such a tense match.

Badrinath explained that his intention was to appreciate the fair play spirit shown by Rickelton as Krunal Pandya was the player who took the game away from MI at that time. He also said that his Tamil comment was misunderstood by people who do not know such expressions and humor.

Subramaniam Badrinath wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “Let him go [Krunal Pandya] Die right there”…that would not be my attitude. I’ll go and stretch him. Great gesture by Ryan Rickelton…he and MI should be given fair play points for this. This is what I said on air, for those who do not understand spoken Tamil.

Well, Krunal Pandya was the biggest hero in RCB’s thrilling win over MI. Despite suffering from severe cramps, he held on till the end and led the defending champions to a dramatic two-wicket win over MI. The heartbreaking defeat officially eliminated Mumbai Indians from the race for the IPL 2026 playoffs, while RCB moved to the top of the points table with 14 points from 11 matches.
