
A fresh controversy has erupted all around Yuzvendra Chahal After a viral social media clip purportedly showed punjab kings Spinner vaping during the team’s visit to Hyderabad ipl 2026. Although the authenticity of the video has not been independently confirmed, the incident has already drawn strong reactions from fans, former cricketers and the cricket fraternity.
The clip is reportedly from a vlog linked to Arshdeep SinghIt appears that Chahal is sitting among his teammates in the flight and is trying to hide his act. The video quickly spread across multiple platforms, leading to intense scrutiny, especially because the use and sale of e-cigarettes is prohibited under existing laws in India.
Although there has been no official confirmation from Punjab Kings or BCCI regarding disciplinary action against Chahal, online speculations ran high after rumors surfaced that Arshdeep had been barred from making team vlogs and Chahal had received a stern warning internally.
The controversy comes at a sensitive stage of the IPL season, with franchises already under pressure to maintain discipline and maintain the league’s code of conduct. Chahal, one of India’s most experienced T20 bowlers, is yet to publicly address the allegations related to the viral clip.

Former Indian spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan Reacted strongly to the controversy and did not hold back from expressing disappointment over the alleged incident. Speaking to X, Sivaramakrishnan questioned why harsher punishment was not being considered if the allegations were found true.
“Vape is banned in India. Should be behind bars. What’s the point of making laws and not enforcing them. 25% of match fees is peanuts. What action would have been taken if a regular person had done this?” He wrote in his social media post.

His comments immediately gained popularity online, dividing opinion among cricket fans. While some supported the former spinner’s tough stance on law enforcement alike for public figures, others argued that a decision on the matter should not be taken until the authenticity of the clip is officially established.

BCCI introduces strict anti-vaping measures
Amid the growing debate, the BCCI has already moved to tighten the rules related to vaping and banned substances during IPL 2026. In a new set of instructions issued to franchises and players, the board has made it clear that vaping will not be tolerated within the tournament premises.
bcci secretary Devjit Saikia It said incidents involving vaping had been brought to the board’s attention and warned that such actions could be a violation under Indian law. As per the new instructions, the use of vapes, e-cigarettes and related banned substances is now completely banned at IPL venues including dressing rooms, dugouts, practice facilities and team hotels.
“Instances of vaping within the dressing rooms and other restricted areas of the tournament venues have been brought to the attention of the BCCI. It is pertinent to note that vapes and electronic cigarettes are prohibited under applicable Indian law. Any person found indulging in such conduct within the tournament premises is not only in breach of BCCI and IPL rules but may also be committing a cognizable offense under the applicable statutory framework. Accordingly, vapes, e-cigarettes and all other prohibited substances are prohibited in all IPL tournaments. The use of substances is strictly prohibited in venues including dressing rooms, dugouts, team hotels and practice facilities. Saikia was quoted as saying by India Today.
