Amidst the news of his dismissal from the post of captain, Suryakumar Yadav has got a big relief. There have been reports that Shreyas Iyer may take over as the new T20 captain of India after the conclusion of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026).
Some reports also say that Hardik Pandya is also in the race to replace Suryakumar Yadav, who has been going through a bad phase with the bat for a long time. It is being said that the Indian selectors are not happy with the batting performance of Suryakumar.
Suryakumar Yadav is sure to remain India’s T20 captain
Amidst speculations, Suryakumar’s captaincy seems safe at least till the England tour. A report in RevSportz suggested that the selectors are willing to wait until the end of the England tour to decide on Suryakumar’s captaincy future.

The report indicates that Suryakumar will continue to lead the Men in Blue in the two-match T20I series in Ireland in June, followed by a five-match T20I series in England. After this they will review before taking any long-term decision on T20 captaincy.
