David Miller breaks silence after being benched by DC vs CSK in IPL 2026

But despite all the noise surrounding the decision, David Miller has shown no disappointment ahead of DC’s IPL 2026 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders in Delhi on May 8. The South African batsman said he understands that IPL team combinations can sometimes force the management to take tough decisions, especially because only four overseas players are allowed in the playing XI.

“I think not being able to play is obviously disappointing as a player. You always want to play every game, but the IPL is like that, the structure of it is with only four overseas players; the combination becomes really important for the team,” Miller was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

He said, “So, I’ve been around; it’s not my first IPL, so I understand the makeup, and giving really positive feedback to the rest of the team, always being positive, and giving whatever I can for the team is really important for me. And then just waiting for my opportunity to come again, whether it comes for the rest of the season or not. I just want to be ready and prepare really well; that’s what we players like to do.”

David Miller reveals what’s destroying DC’s campaign

Miller said that the team has played really good cricket in many matches but has repeatedly failed in small but important moments. He said that IPL has now become so competitive that even one bad over or one missed catch can completely change the outcome of the match and the same has happened with Delhi Capitals this season.

“It’s four out of four. We really need to win now. We have to win four out of four to have a chance of qualifying, so it becomes really important. Look, it’s not easy. Obviously, we don’t go there to lose a game. So, we’ve definitely debriefed and talked about a few things. And that’s just for me with the batsmen; I don’t think we’re playing bad cricket at all,” he said.
