Now, AB de Villiers has heaped praise on Vaibhav Suryavanshi and even compared young England player Jacob Bethell to the Rajasthan Royals star. The Proteas legend reckoned that both the young left-handers will become future superstars of the game.

While Vaibhav has been destroying the bowling attack in the ongoing IPL 2026, Jacob Bethel is not getting regular chances with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) this season due to the strong foreign combination in the playing XI.
Although the England star played only three matches due to an injury to Phil Salt, many cricket experts believe that Bethel has exceptional talent and could become one of the stars of the future. The 22-year-old has already shown flashes of aggressive batting, fearless stroke play and confidence against quality bowling attacks across all formats.
Meanwhile, 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has continued to create absolute madness this season. The left-handed opening batsman has already scored 404 runs in just 10 matches at an impressive strike rate of over 237, leaving some of the best bowlers helpless with his fearless batting style.

In view of this, de Villiers predicted that both Vaibhav and Bethel would become bright superstars of the game of cricket and called them “brilliant talents”. The former South Africa captain believes that they are still very young and have a lot to learn, but as they gain more experience and maturity, both the players can become unstoppable in world cricket.
AB de Villiers said on his YouTube channel, “I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned his (Jacob Bethel) name several times. I agree with you. He’s a wonderful, wonderful player. He’s got a lot of hurdles in front of him. Reminds me, very different ages actually, but both are left-handers; reminds me of Suryavanshi. Brilliant talent, huge future ahead of them.”

He further added, “Bright, bright, bright superstars of the game of cricket, but there is still a lot to learn and still a lot of hurdles to overcome. Jacob is not as young as Vaibhav Suryavanshi, but he has the same kind of abilities. Superstar talent but there is still a lot to learn. Once they gain experience over time, I think those two players will be unstoppable.”

The great batsman also hopes that RCB sees Bethel as a long-term prospect and future match-winner in the IPL and will continue to invest in him for many years.
He signed off by saying, “Hopefully Jacob will stay with RCB; I have no doubt that they will have a plan to retain him for many years to come. I am confident he has the potential to win a lot of games for RCB in the future.”
