Lucknow Super Giants fast bowler Prince Yadav revealed the exact advice that helped him dismiss former India and Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli during the two teams’ IPL 2026 match on May 7.
During the second over of RCB’s chase, Yadav bowled a beautiful seam ball to Kohli for a duck in two balls. This was Virat Kohli’s first IPL duck in 46 matches. His early dismissal also meant that RCB were ultimately unable to chase down the target of 213.

LSG breaks six-match losing streak
Lucknow Super Giants are almost out of IPL 2026 after losing six consecutive matches. They had the perfect opportunity to play party-poopers against a very excited RCB and they took it with both hands.
On a wet night in Lucknow with several rain interruptions, Mitchell Marsh compensated for Arshin Kulkarni’s slow start with his second IPL century. Nicholas Pooran played his part at No. 3, but it was Rishabh Pant’s unbeaten 32 off just 10 balls that took LSG to 209 in 19 overs.
DLS math set RCB’s target at 213 runs in 19 overs. Mohammed Shami dismissed Jacob Bethel in the first over and Kohli in the second over.

Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar made a promising partnership of 95 runs but were out early. Prince Yadav returned in the eleventh over to dismiss both Padikkal and Jitesh Sharma, while Patidar became the victim of former RCB batsman Shahbaz Ahmed in the twelfth over.
Tim David, Krunal Pandya and Romario Shepherd tried their best, but the defending champions lost by only 9 runs.
On the plan to dismiss Virat Kohli, Prince Yadav said, “He himself told me this.”
Speaking to broadcasters after the match, Yadav said that he had spoken to the fellow Delhiite about his bowling plans during the reverse match in Bengaluru on April 15.
“That was exactly the plan. In fact, after the last match, I was talking to Virat bhaiya (elder brother) and he himself told me this… We talked a lot after that match and he was telling me that as long as the ball is going outside the length, you should not leave your length. I did exactly that, and I got the wicket as a result,” he said.

Virat Kohli’s form in IPL 2026
Despite the latest setback, Virat Kohli enjoyed good form in IPL 2026. With 379 runs in 10 matches, he is still the leading run-scorer for RCB in this tournament.
Virat Kohli is also in the top 10 in the Orange Cap race, but with difficulty. He has also scored 3 fifties this year with a high score of 81. Virat Kohli’s runs have come at an average of 47 and strike rate of 164.
Prince Yadav’s form in IPL 2026
2026 is only Prince Yadav’s second year in the IPL, but it is going much better than his first. Last year, he took 3 wickets in 6 matches at a bowling average of 75.
This year, Prince is third in the Purple Cap table with 16 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 18.68 and an economy of 8. Despite the win over RCB, LSG could not move beyond tenth place in the points table.
Prince also talked to broadcasters about this contrast. “If I talk about myself, the season is good. But from the team’s point of view it is a little better [tough] Because we lost six consecutive matches. But efforts will continue sir, definitely; We will try to do well in the remaining matches as well.”
