According to a report by Cricbuzz, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that it will conduct periodic tests on IPL teams as long as the tournament is going on.
This development comes after the announcement of a new set of guidelines ipl teams On Thursday. There will be checks to see whether the teams are following the guidelines or not.
The Board also announced that a Special Operations Team will be formed by the BCCI/IPL to conduct these investigations.
BCCI has prepared new guidelines for all IPL franchises to follow.
After some controversial incidents came to light, BCCI decided to crack down on the activities of IPL teams. most notably, Rajasthan Royals Team manager Romi Bhinder was seen using a cell phone in the dugout. A few days later, Royals captain Riyan Parag was seen lighting an e-cigarette in the dressing room.
It seems the board also has reservations about players traveling with the team instead of their girlfriends. BCCI’s first directive warned against possible honey-traps.

BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia announced periodic spot checks
In the document where the board announced the guidelines, Saikia also explained the steps that the BCCI will take to ensure that the guidelines are followed.
“The BCCI/IPL operations team may conduct periodic checks to assess compliance with the instructions given in this advisory. Team managers are required to maintain records of all approved guest visits and hotel activities.
“Any violation of the above instructions should be reported to the IPL operations team or the respective IPL venue team as soon as possible. BCCI is confident that all IPL franchises will take this advice seriously and take all necessary steps to maintain the integrity and reputation of the Indian Premier League,” the communication read.
Consequences of non-compliance
Those punishments are mentioned in the document player And/or teams may face consequences if they fail to follow the guidelines. Devjit Saikia said that the punishment includes fine, suspension and legal action is necessary.
“The BCCI and the IPL Governing Council wish to clearly clarify that any breach of the instructions set out in this advisory will be treated as a serious disciplinary matter. Non-compliance will expose the concerned IPL franchise and the individual concerned to proceedings under the applicable provisions of the IPL Regulations, BCCI Rules and Regulations and other applicable laws, as the circumstances may warrant.
“Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, the following consequences may be imposed at the discretion of the BCCI/IPL Governing Council:
1. Show cause notice: Issuance of formal show cause notice to the franchisee and/or the person concerned.
2. Financial penalty: Imposition of financial penalty on a franchise or individual as prescribed under IPL regulations.
3. Suspension or disqualification: Suspension or disqualification of a player, support staff member or team official from the current or upcoming IPL season.
4. For legal violations: In cases involving legal violations, including the use of prohibited substances, violations of safety protocols, or conduct amounting to harassment, to refer the case to appropriate law enforcement authorities.
