Gujarat Titans Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki praised the team’s new Caribbean player, all-rounder Jason Holder.
Holder joins Gujarat Titans only in IPL 2026 after previous stints at five other franchises, the longest of which was with Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Holder had to wait for his chance in GT and did not get his chance until the eighth match of the tournament.
Holder enjoyed a particularly productive night against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 30 April. As GT bowled out RCB for just 155, Holder took 2 wickets and 3 catches – including a controversial catch of RCB captain Rajat Patidar.
Holder scored only 12 runs with the bat, but his 30-run partnership with Rahul Tewatia put the game firmly in GT’s favour.

“Jason Holder is world class” – Vikram Solanki
Solanki was speaking in the press conference after the match. Solanki said that despite playing for a long time, Holder was getting better with each passing game.
He said, “Over the last few years in international cricket and franchise cricket he has proved how balanced he is, and I think he is only getting better. He talked about understanding his game and that definitely comes with experience. Any player who has played for a long time, played around the world, led teams, been part of international teams and been part of different teams, he starts to understand what needs to be done in any given situation, and Jason It’s definitely doing that,” he said.
In 2025, Jason Holder broke the record for most wickets by a bowler in a calendar year in T20 cricket.
“He’s Smart” β Solanki on Jason Holder
Solanki continued and said how Jason Holder has been crucial for GT not only with bat and ball but also with his ability to understand the match situation.
Solanki further said, “We were very excited when he was a part of the team. He had to wait a lot before getting his chance, but ever since he got the chance, he has contributed well in all the games and is on the field today.”
He has been fantastic with the ball, he has great ability with the bat in terms of his ability to strike the cricket ball, but he is also very smart to play the way he needs to in any given situation and his partnership with Rahul Tewatia is exactly an example of that,β he added.
“He has added a new dimension to his game” – Solanki
Solanki was all praise for Holder’s physical attributes β namely his tall physique and physical strength.
“He is a physically strong guy, he has great reach, all the technicalities are hidden as far as the ball is concerned. He is also bringing an added dimension of being an experienced campaigner now and I think that is what is going on, that is what we are seeing in front of us now,” Solanki concluded.
GT’s next match
GT will host Punjab Kings for their next match on May 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
PBKS have broken their unbeaten streak in the last match, while GT is on a high with two consecutive dominant wins. They would like to make it three in a row.
