Match No. 41, between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. During the toss, MI captain Hardik Pandya provided a big update on former team skipper Rohit Sharma, who is suffering from a hamstring injury sustained in the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

During the toss, Hardik Pandya said that Rohit Sharma will need a few more matches to regain his full fitness. Earlier, in yesterday’s press conference it was said that the decision on Rohit Sharma will be taken during the toss and the updated decision has come from the franchise captain.

Rohit will play some more matches- Hardik Pandya on Rohit Sharma’s injury

Hardik said, “Rohit has to play a few more games. He is trying, it is not exactly up to the level where he wants, so is not available for the team. Absolutely (on his form). We just want to come out and play the best cricket I know. It will definitely help the group and the team.”

Quinton de Kock has been included in the team in his place and Rohit Sharma has not been able to play in the last three matches for Mumbai. However, the former player is also missing with a wrist injury as Ryan Rickelton has been named in his place tonight.

Rohit Sharma has scored 137 runs in four innings in IPL 2026. He scored a half-century in the very first game of the IPL and was looking in great form, but his form suffered a setback due to injury. Although he has practiced in the nets and is batting well, he is not 100% ready.

It’s quite high scoring in general – Pat Cummins

Pat Cummins’s SRH also made two changes to the team. “It looks like the wicket might have a bit of stickiness, so happy (to bowl first). I think you have to reset your expectations in every game,” he said during the toss.

“It’s quite high scoring in general, so just try to apply the skills, don’t think too much about it. You know, this pitch may ask something different from you in this game, and just go in with a clear mind. Harsh Dubey has come in place of Shivang Kumar. Hopefully he will trust what I say because I have been bowling with him, so you know, I get the information clearly when I am bowling on the pitch.”
