Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star Virat Kohli took out time from his busy schedule for his childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma.

While in Delhi for RCB’s clash against Delhi Capitals on April 27, Kohli stayed an extra day in the city. The purpose of this visit was to inaugurate a branch of West Delhi Cricket Academy at Delhi Public School, RK Puram.

As a child, Virat Kohli learned all his cricket under the tutelage of Sharma at the West Delhi Cricket Academy. Over the years, Kohli has spoken at length about the role of his coach in his life.

Stay true to your dreams- Virat Kohli to youth

During the inauguration ceremony, Kohli gave away awards to young achievers and even asked no one to touch his feet. After the ceremony, Kohli addressed the students of the school in the presence of Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) President Rohan Jaitley.

“I took up sport very early in my life, but it came from a very honest place,” the 37-year-old said. “I was absolutely certain that I wanted to move on and pursue cricket, and I had to be honest with myself, my family and my teachers and let them know that this is the path I want to take.”

“Be honest about your dreams, what you want to do and pursue that dream with full commitment. Only you will know if you are being 100% honest.”

He concluded, “I started practicing when I was eight years old and even now I keep coming to the academy whenever I get time. It’s a big part of my childhood, and I hope all the kids who come here to learn cricket can value it.”
