Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have been in sensational form in the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. They are currently placed second in the points table. However, the team’s opening batsman Phil Salt is out due to injury. The English opener did not take part in the last game against Gujarat Titans and was replaced by Jacob Bethel.

Phil Salt failed to play the last game against GT after suffering an injury during the net session and now the team’s batting coach and mentor, Dinesh Karthik has confirmed that the opener will also miss the match against Delhi Capitals on Monday. Salt has not recovered from the injury sustained before the GT clash.

Will RCB miss Phil Salt’s intention against DC?

Phil Salt’s absence from the game will be a big blow for the defending champions, as in the first match, Bethel failed to show the intent and power that Salt has provided for the franchise over the past two seasons. However the latter will look to score some runs in the upcoming game.

Phil Salt has also performed brilliantly this season, scoring two fifties and scoring 202 runs in six matches. He has demonstrated his aggressive attitude from the very first ball of the match. The management will want to ensure that he is fit as soon as possible as they will not want him to miss the rest of the season.

IPL has been full of injuries

According to TV9 Kannada, Salt is not the only RCB cricketer who is struggling with injury. Rasikh Salam Dar is also doubtful about his fitness in GT Clash. Rasikh, who left the pitch midway through the last match due to a muscle problem, is also expected to miss the match against Delhi Capitals.

Not just for RCB, but DC too is suffering from injuries, as their fast bowler Lungi Ngidi almost escaped a fatal injury as he was hit awkwardly on his neck during the PBKS clash, and was immediately taken to the hospital along the Green Corridor. According to reports, Ngidi is out of danger and will be released soon.

Will RCB be able to take revenge from DC?

The DC vs RCB match will be a reverse fixture, as both the teams have faced each other once this season. This match was at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Phil Salt scored a brilliant 63 runs in the match; Capitals had the upper hand against the Challengers, with David Miller doing the finishing work for his team. There is going to be an exciting match on Monday.

Both the teams had different performances in their last game, where RCB dominated against the Titans, with Virat Kohli once again leading the charge in the run chase and scoring 81 runs. On the other hand, despite KL Rahul’s unbeaten 152, PBKS chased the target of 265 runs and broke the record of the highest chase score in T20 and IPL history.
