Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins has returned to lead his side in the IPL and they started with a win in their very first game as their side chased down the target of 228 runs with ease.
Sunrisers Hyderabad may not have had a good start to the season as they conceded runs when they failed to defend a big total against defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore.
They then lost three of their first four matches and had a disappointing season. With stellar performances from their batsmen, Ishan Kishan as the stand-in captain has led them to three consecutive wins ahead of the clash against the Royals.
Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, had a great start to the season with four wins in the beginning of the season. The Royals’ losing streak continues since returning to their original home ground at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s brilliant innings took RR to heights
Rajasthan Royals have had a great start to the season, while Vaibhav Suryavanshi, on the other hand, has never let his form dip with the bat. He is in great touch, having also reached the second highest position on the Orange Cap leaderboard.
With a century in 36 balls, Suryavanshi gave a great start to the Royals as they piled up a total of 200+. However, despite a stellar performance with the bat with Dhruv Jurel and Donovan Ferreira in supporting roles, SRH restricted them to a score of less than 230.
Returning captain Pat Cummins bowled brilliantly, taking one wicket and giving away runs at an economy of just 7 in a match where the bowlers were hammered in all parts of the ground.
Brilliant innings from Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan lead SRH to their fourth win of the season.
In SRH’s innings where they chased 229, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan acted as the main partnership holders after the dismissal of Travis Head. Abhishek scored his third half-century of the season and gave a great start to the team.
On the other hand, Ishan Kishan scored 74 runs while striking over 200. After his dismissal, Nitish Kumar Reddy made a quickfire fifty with Heinrich Klaasen making 36, taking them very close to chasing the target.
SRH achieved their fourth consecutive win and it was their first win of the season under the leadership of legendary Australian captain Pat Cummins.
“Really happy.” Pat Cummins on winning his first game of the season
Pat Cummins helped Sunrisers Hyderabad win over Rajasthan Royals, helping them overtake the Royals to reach third place in the IPL points table. This became the fourth highest chase in IPL history.
Pat Cummins said, “Really happy. You are never sure how it is going to be in the first game. Prafulla can come back and impact the game. Ishan led them beautifully. Harshal and Jaydev also started for us. Ishan and Abhishek got the target very early. Very calm and confident group, really good win.”
