Veteran Indian batsman KL Rahul has scored his sixth brilliant century in IPL history against Punjab Kings, putting their winning streak in danger this season.
Coming to the Arun Jaitley Stadium, KL Rahul had a lot to prove for his team, as despite some good innings in the first games he could not meet the demands of his team. Although the runs were coming in for KL, their strike rate, as always, has been a major concern.
However, when it mattered most for Delhi, Rahul played a brilliant role in scoring a record-breaking century against Punjab Kings against one of the best-looking bowling lineups in the competition, especially in the middle overs.
KL Rahul reaches new milestone with sixth IPL century
The Arun Jaitley Stadium is often noted as one of the better tracks for batting, and the dimensions of the ground often help the batsman clear the fence with ease. Rahul has done this every time the PBKS bowlers have given him balls to hit.
Playing an innings of over 200, Rahul completed his century in just 47 balls and hit 12 fours and 5 sixes as he reached the 100-run mark. He continued his havoc even after the century and scored 24 runs in the third over of Vijaykumar Vaishya.
Rahul’s century is the sixth of his IPL career, equaling his record with the great Chris Gayle, while he has now gone past another India wicketkeeper, Sanju Samson. He is now behind only Virat Kohli and Jos Buttler in the list of most IPL centuries.
