Lucknow Super Giants captain and the highest paid cricketer in the history of IPL, Rishabh Pant was once again out for a duck, that too while chasing a modest score of 160 runs against Rajasthan Royals on their home ground.
Lucknow Super Giants had lost three consecutive matches and had to do something special in Ekana. Their bowlers once again did wonders with the ball, especially the three fast bowlers Mohammed Shami, Mohsin Khan and Prince Yadav, who took two wickets each.
He helped LSG restrict the dangerous RR batting lineup to just 160 while their top order was out within the powerplay. Had Mayank Yadav not bowled the last 20-run over against Ravindra Jadeja, the Royals would not have been able to score a struggling score of 159 runs.
Rishabh Pant is out after a goofy shot against Nandre Berger
Lucknow Super Giants batsman Rishabh Pant was once again out at a time when he had a chance to lead his team to victory. Pant came to bat after Ayush Badoni was run out on zero. However, Pant played many irresponsible shots due to which his innings never got going.
Rishabh tried to pull a ball with a short-arm jab towards the mid-wicket boundary and instead sent the ball back to RR wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel, who completed an easy catch. Pant was out for a duck after three balls, leaving his team in further trouble.
Rishabh Pant’s form has been very bad this season. He has scored 147 runs in 7 innings with just one half-century. In the last seven matches, he has scored 7 runs against DC, a match-winning 68* against Sunrisers Hyderabad, 10 runs against KKR, 18 runs against GT, 1 run against RCB and finally, 43 runs against PBKS in the last high-scoring game.
After Pant’s dismissal, Justin Langer was very disappointed and walked out of the dugout.
Rishabh Pant’s unwise shot selection and carelessness at such a crucial juncture of the game has been disappointing for everyone. The LSG owner has been seen on several occasions talking to Pant about taking such unnecessary risks, which has cost the team in the long run.
On this occasion, due to his poor shot selection in a very short period of time against Rajasthan Royals, head coach Justin Langer was on his feet and left the dugout. He looked quite disappointed with the captain’s poor conduct.
Now it is up to two experienced campaigners in Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran, who have to remain patient and take the game as deep as possible.

Pant falls early – LSG in big trouble
Rishabh Pant’s dismissal on zero in three balls is a big blow. He is the backbone of this batting unit and his early dismissal has put the pressure completely on the middle-order. LSG needs something special to recover from here now pic.twitter.com/Uj4CBFG84t
