Canadian police have linked Dilpreet Bajwa’s appointment as Canadian captain to threats from Indian gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. This young player of Indian origin was appointed captain of the national team at a very young age.

Lawrence Bishnoi is an Indian-born Canadian gangster who has worked in both these countries and is in jail on multiple charges filed against him, covering all types of crimes. According to the latest reports, he could be linked to the appointment of Dilpreet as the captain of the Canadian team.

The 23-year-old Dilpreet was surprisingly appointed captain of the team, ignoring the presence of several senior cricketers like Nicholas Kirton who could have been suitable for the role. Dilpreet led the Canadian team in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.

All these allegations were made after the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, CBC, aired a show titled ‘Corruption, Crime and Cricket’ in which a number of questions were raised on the selection, appointment of captains and administration of the Canadian cricket team, which was largely questioned.

Cricket Canada’s anti-corruption unit launched a comprehensive investigation into alleged corruption and claims of match-fixing. According to the Canadian Crime Bureau report, Dilpreet’s appointment was a big scam in itself as it happened under the influence of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

It was revealed that the gang had threatened several administrative heads and cricketers along with their families to make Dilpreet Bajwa the captain. The notorious gang must have done this on purpose and it seemed that the captain was ready to fix the match.

Allegations of massive corruption and match fixing have emerged against the Canadian captain

The Crime Bureau report further claims that there are numerous anomalies in the Canadian team, including allegations of match fixing against the captain. A lot of organized crime took place within the team.

Direct evidence of this incident was seen in the match played between Canada and New Zealand, where they had to defend a total of 177 runs against the Kiwi team. He started the game with two seamers who gave away 35 runs in the first three.

Switching to Saad Bin Zafar, he bowled a wicket maiden in the fourth over and the fifth over was also successful, with the seamer achieving another success. However, captain Dilpreet Bajwa took over the ball in the last over of the powerplay and lost momentum with a 15-run over and a controversial wide and no ball.

National star quits Canadian Championship after receiving threat to make Bajwa Canadian captain

According to the Canadian Crime Bureau report, another major allegation has been made against two Canadian players who may also be linked to Dilpreet Bajwa or the Bishnoi gang. The names of these players have not been revealed.

Two players have revealed that they threatened to make Dilpreet Bajwa, a national star player, captain of the Canadian team after winning the national championship in 2025. Subsequently, the player withdrew himself from the national championship citing security concerns and mental stress.
