Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will wear their iconic green jersey in their upcoming match against Delhi Capitals (DC). The ‘Go Green’ initiative started as a simple campaign but has become an important part of the franchise’s commitment towards environmental awareness and sustainability efforts.
The match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals will be held on Saturday, April 18 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Captain Rajat Patidar would like to maintain his strong rhythm in the next match. They have already won four from five matches and are second in the table.
RCB will wear green jersey against Delhi Capitals in Bengaluru
The unique green jersey is made by sports brand PUMA using recycled stadium waste and technical textiles. This process supports the idea of a circular economy and promotes environmental responsibility in modern sports by helping to reduce overall waste.
Royal Challengers Bangalore is the only carbon-neutral T20 franchise in the world. Management has incorporated sustainability goals into daily operations since the launch of this initiative in 2011, attracting environmentally conscious partners such as Sun Pharma and Nothing Smartphones.
RCB CEO Rajesh Menon expressed pride in the team’s efforts to achieve carbon positivity while encouraging fans to adopt more sustainable lifestyle choices.

RCB’s smart strategy to promote eco-friendly match days
An important part of this sustainability approach is studying fan behavior on match days. The franchise conducts stadium-wide surveys to understand travel patterns and identify how fans commute, including the use of ride-sharing across the city.
These surveys help estimate carbon emissions generated per visitor, providing insight into the environmental impact of travel. Fans are also encouraged to use public transport, with match tickets linked to the Bengaluru Metro to reduce private vehicle usage.
The franchise has also strengthened waste management across the stadium. Strict monitoring and regular audits ensure proper waste separation, while renewable energy sources such as solar-powered lighting are used to reduce reliance on conventional electricity during night matches.
RCB eyes top spot while Delhi Capitals look to regain form
Royal Challengers Bangalore have made a strong start to IPL 2026 under the leadership of Rajat Patidar. They have won four of their first five games with consistency in all departments. Their only defeat came against Rajasthan Royals (RR), but they remain one of the top performing teams.
RCB is currently second in the points table with eight points from five matches. A win in their upcoming match can take them to the top position.
However, Delhi Capitals have had an inconsistent campaign so far. They started with two consecutive wins but after that they had to face consecutive defeats. The Delhi-based franchise is currently placed fifth on the points table and needs to make a quick comeback.
