Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, match number 23, was between the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Both teams came into this match with different results in their previous games; However, RCB defeated LSG by 5 wickets. RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and decided to bowl first.

RCB made just one change from their win against Mumbai Indians, bringing in Josh Hazlewood in place of Jacob Duffy. LSG played the same team that they played against Gujarat Titans. After being invited to bat first, LSG openers Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram got off to a good start; However, the latter was dismissed by Rasikh Dar.

Markram was out in the most unfortunate manner as he tried to play a ball down the leg side and got a leading edge, giving Devdutt Padikkal a simple catch. Then Rishabh Pant came to bat and Josh Hazlewood’s ball hit his elbow and he retired out. Another poor innings from Nicholas Pooran, Hazlewood dismisses him.

The wickets of Super Giants kept falling continuously. Ayush Badoni scored 38 off 24 balls and Marsh’s 40 along with Mukul Chaudhary played a good inning of 39 off 28 balls to help LSG score 146/10 in their 20 overs. Rasikh Dar was the best bowler, taking four wickets.

While chasing the target, RCB openers Phil Salt and Virat Kohli got off to a good start as the former returned to the pavilion on a low score. After this, Kohli took charge from there and scored runs aggressively and had no intention of slowing down. After the power play, RCB’s score was 60/1. After Padikkal’s wicket, Rajat Patidar also joined the party.

Kohli was out on the score of 49 runs in 34 balls and was dismissed by Avesh Khan. But Jitesh Sharma and Patidar did not slow down as they continued to dominate the LSG bowlers. The RCB captain was out on the score of 27 runs in 13 balls. Jitesh scored 23 runs on 9 balls. RCB finished the game with five wickets remaining, with Tim David and Romario Shepherd scoring 14 runs from 8 balls.
