Reports revealed that the veteran opener did not turn up on the field in Mumbai and did not even travel with the team for the crucial training session on Tuesday. This left everyone worried about his availability for the upcoming MI vs PBKS clash on Thursday.
Actually, Rohit Sharma suffered a hamstring injury during MI’s previous IPL 2026 clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Rohit looked in good touch and scored 19 runs in just 13 balls and was playing freely. But in the sixth over of the chase, the Hitman suddenly felt pain in his leg and then after trying hard to continue, he decided to walk off the field.

Hamstring injuries are always a risk. After the match, Rohit went for scan and medical test. Fortunately, it is being said that no tears have been found in the report. But still, he is reportedly not fully fit, and that is why he skipped the practice session at the Wankhede Stadium.
The MI team management is thinking very carefully now, because they know that Rohit is a very important player, and they would not want to take any risks in this long event that could make the injury worse.

Now the big question is whether Rohit will play against PBKS, then there are two situations. They may decide to rest Rohit for this home match so that he can regain full fitness to avoid the risk of aggravating the injury or abandoning the call on the experienced campaigner.
Notably, Rohit recently crossed the 6,000-run mark for MI and became the highest run-scorer in the team’s history. In the world’s biggest franchise tournament, he now has a total of 6013 runs in 231 matches at an average of 29.76 and a strike rate of 132.82.
The arrival of Will Jacques has brought new hope in the camp of Mumbai Indians.
Amidst the increasing pressure in the camp of Mumbai Indians, the arrival of Will Jacques has given them a big hope. The England all-rounder was likely to join the MI squad on Tuesday, but there is still no official confirmation. His arrival is being seen as a much-needed boost for the team.
He has struggled this season, especially in the middle order, where inconsistent performances have cost him a lot. Jack is known for his fearless batting and ability to handle pressure, which can bring balance to the lineup and his spin bowling adds to the strength of his bowling.
